Our School Overlooks Lambay Island
I live in Portmarnock. It is on the east coast of Ireland. From where I live I can see Lambay Island. There is a hill beside our school called Paddy's Hill. Earlier this year we went on a picnic to the Hill and we could see Lambay Island and Ireland's Eye very clearly. Lambay used to be called Reachtra and was devastated in 795. The vikings attacked repeatedly. They burned down churches, they killed inhabitants, they captured monks and made them slaves. In 798 Irelands Eye was plundered by the Vikings. If you visit Ireland's Eye today by boat you can still see the ruins of an early church.
