Report of The Day - By: Caitriona Power(Capt)
On Monday the 16th of June the final of the Camogie (Corn Bean Ui Phuirseail) was to be played in Croke Park at 10.30am. That morning when I got up the sun was shining brightly through my window. I was really excited so I jumped out of bed and ate my breakfast. When I got into school everyone was alive with excitement. The school Camogie Team met in the library and Mr. Fitzgibbon gave us our jerseys, then we left for Croke Park. When we reached Croke Park we went into the changing room where we got dressed and were given a pep talk. Then we ran out onto the pitch and warmed up. Soon after, the ball was thrown into the middle of the field. We took the lead in the first 5 minutes and from then on we were sure we were going to win. Knocklyon were a good team also and came back into the match with a few goals of their own. At times it was very hard fought with plenty of action. In the end the score was St. Helen's - 6 goals + 1 point and Knocklyon - 2 goals + 1 point. Afterwards we were presented with our gold medals and the cup. We jumped around the field for joy. On the way home we went to Mc Donalds and went around Portmarnock beeping the horns. At the end of the day all the team had a party in Karen Haughton's house. When I went to bed that night I looked back on the day and thought to myself, "I'll never forget this day".
