CATS
Cats in season
A cat can be in season (heat) for up to five times a year. It is only at this time, which should last about five days, that the cat is fertile. Her mating call is a shrill catwauling. For a domestic cat the first time she will be in season is between the age of seven to twelve. Her pregnancy will last for about two months. The average amount of kittens in a litter is four.
Sleeping
The average cat sleeps sixteen hours a day, usually in short"cat naps".
Grooming
Cats are famous for cleaning themselves. Everyday they will lick their fur, using saliva, for at least an hour a day. This is not just good for their fur but it also removes pests.
Kittens
Young cats are called kittens. They spend hours chasing their tails and jumping on each other. Their play has a serious purpose. It helps them develop hunting skills.
